Why Lantern
Lantern grew from seeing education from both sides: professionally through school psychology and personally as a parent navigating questions about a child’s learning and educational needs.
Families are often expected to absorb a great deal of information, including assessment reports, recommendations, school processes, educational terminology and different perspectives, and then make important decisions about their child.
Lantern was created from the belief that families need more than information. They need a way to understand how the pieces fit together, identify practical next steps and feel confident participating in the decisions that affect their child.

Meet Davinia
Davinia Parton, Ed.S., M.A., PPS
Founder, Lantern
Davinia is a school psychologist with an Ed.S. in School Psychology, an M.A. in Educational Psychology and a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Psychology.
Her professional experience includes working with children, families and educators across school settings, with experience in educational assessment, consultation, executive functioning, social-emotional learning, intervention, parent education and helping teams understand the factors affecting a child’s experience at school.
Before entering school psychology, Davinia spent many years working professionally in communication and media. That background continues to shape her approach: complex information should be understandable, useful and communicated without unnecessary jargon.
As both a professional and a parent, Davinia understands that educational information feels very different when the child being discussed is your own. Lantern brings those perspectives together, combining professional knowledge, lived understanding and clear communication to help families see the bigger picture and find a practical way forward.
Lantern provides educational consultation, parent education, school-navigation support and coaching. The focus is on helping families understand the bigger picture, feel more confident in conversations about school and find practical ways forward.
Lantern does not provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychotherapy, legal advice or legal representation.
